Brookhaven's fourth annual International Festival has a new home: Brookhaven Park, 4158 Peachtree Road NE.

The free celebration runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18, according to the city's festival page. Admission and parking cost nothing, and free shuttles will run from Apple Valley Road behind the MARTA parking lot and from the Latin American Association at 2750 Buford Highway.

The festival previously took place along the Buford Highway Cultural Corridor, where the inaugural event was held in 2023. District 3 Council Member Madeleine Simmons, whose district includes Brookhaven Park, said in the city's Aug. 18 announcement that the park is ready to showcase recent improvements since the city took ownership.

Saturday's headliners include Olly Sholotan, the singer-songwriter and actor known for his role as Carlton Banks in Peacock's Bel-Air, and Cumbiatron, a high-energy cumbia music and dance group, according to a city press release. Sunday's main stage features K-pop boy group DROP. The lineup joins live cultural performances, art installations, international food trucks, a global marketplace and interactive chalk art.

Kids get their own draw. The Kidz Zone offers free face painting, inflatables, a petting zoo and photo opportunities with llamas.

A USATF-certified 5K walk/run takes place Sunday at the Peachtree Creek Greenway, 1793 Briarwood Road. The race qualifies for the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race and benefits We Love Buford Highway, a nonprofit that preserves the multicultural identity of the Buford Highway corridor. Proceeds fund the organization's free Buford Highway Orchestra Program for local children.

"Because of support like this, 96 young musicians have participated in the program," We Love Buford Highway Executive Director Lily Pabian said in August when the city announced the festival.

Mayor Pro-Tem and District 4 Council Member John Funny urged residents to attend, saying in the same announcement that he welcomes everyone to celebrate the many cultures that call Brookhaven home.

Organizers recommend bringing folding chairs, blankets, bottled water, sunscreen and bug spray. Registration details for the 5K and full festival information are available at BrookhavenGA.gov/intl-fest.
