A Dunwoody woman faces drug trafficking and five other charges after Roswell police say they found methamphetamine, Xanax and drug paraphernalia in her car during a traffic stop on South Holcomb Bridge Road.
The arrest was reported Wednesday, Aug. 12, by the Alpharetta-Roswell Herald. It stemmed from a stop at the intersection of Nesbitt Ferry Road and South Holcomb Bridge Road after officers said they spotted a silver BMW traveling east at 60 mph while failing to maintain its lane.
When an officer approached the passenger side of the vehicle, the driver began convulsing and fell headfirst from the car onto the pavement, according to a Roswell Police Department incident report. The officer called emergency medical services and attempted to render aid.
The officer was skeptical.
The incident report stated the woman's condition appeared inconsistent with an active seizure: she remained responsive to painful stimuli and allegedly avoided attempts to administer naloxone, an opioid-overdose antidote. Within minutes of EMS arriving, she regained consciousness but was in an altered mental state, the officer reported.
After the woman was transported to a hospital, investigators identified her and discovered several active felony arrest warrants from Gwinnett County for possession of methamphetamine, theft of services and criminal trespassing. All carried a nationwide extradition status.
Police then conducted a probable cause search of the BMW. They reported finding Xanax pills, two vials containing a clear liquid with traces of methamphetamine, plastic bags and three digital scales. One scale had residue from a crystalline substance. Additional methamphetamine was found in the center console and around the gearshift, and it tested positive in a field test.
Officers also seized three cellphones they believe may contain digital evidence related to the possession and distribution of controlled substances.
The woman faces six charges total, including trafficking of illegal drugs, possession of drug-related objects, speeding and driving with an expired license. The Herald report did not name the woman or specify the remaining two charges.
