Three private homes, a raffle with prizes worth up to $1,000, and painters working in the gardens: the Dunwoody Woman's Club's 53rd Annual Home Tour is set for Friday, October 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The club announced the lineup July 13 on The Aha! Connection. This year's tour will open one Dunwoody home and two Sandy Springs homes to ticket holders, with advance tickets priced at $35 and day-of tickets at $40.
New art partnership
For the first time, the club is partnering with the Dunwoody Fine Art Association to station en plein air (outdoor painting) artists in the gardens of two featured homes. Visitors can watch painters work, buy original pieces on-site, or browse a boutique gallery.
DFAA president Lynne Joffe's organization, a Dunwoody nonprofit founded in 1971, promotes fine art through lectures, workshops, and exhibits across the area. The group also hosts an annual Fine Art Month each October, placing member artwork in local businesses.
Raffle returns
The raffle is back with three prizes: an original matted and framed painting, Cloisters, Sorrento, by Georgia Watercolor Society past president Pat Fiorello; a $1,000 shopping spree at Lauderhill's Fine Jewelry; and a Face Haven Spa gift basket valued at $1,000.
Where the money goes
All proceeds fund the club's charitable programs in arts and culture, civic engagement, education, environment, and health and wellness, as well as the Tallulah Falls School in North Georgia, according to the club's website. The GFWC Dunwoody Woman's Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with more than 90 active volunteers, has logged 184,000 volunteer hours and raised $600,000 through the home tour since 2005, the site states.
When the tour celebrated its 50th year in October 2023, then-event chair Terry Kemp told Rough Draft Atlanta: "We're very proud to have been the driving force behind the Stage Door Theatre, Spruill Center for the Arts, the Dunwoody Nature Center, and the first Fourth of July parade."
