Congregation Or VeShalom, the Brookhaven synagogue founded more than a century ago by Sephardic Jewish families from the Island of Rhodes, will honor longtime member Dr. Sidney Tourial at its annual golf tournament fundraiser on Monday, August 17.
Proceeds will fund the congregation's year-round programming, including youth activities, holiday celebrations, adult learning, and community outreach, according to the congregation's listing on the Atlanta Jewish Connector.
The tournament takes place at Bear's Best Golf Club, 5342 Aldeburgh Drive, Suwanee. All skill levels are welcome.
Schedule
- 8 a.m. — Registration, continental breakfast, putting contest and warm-up
- 9:30 a.m. — Golfers called to carts for announcements
- 9:45 a.m. — Shotgun start
- 2 p.m. — Banquet and awards presentation
Cost and sponsorships
Individual player registration is $250. A foursome costs $900. Mulligans and raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the course.
Sponsorship tiers range from $360 for a Hole Sponsor to $2,500 for the Ace (Presenting) Sponsor, which includes a foursome, eight mulligans, 10 raffle tickets, hole naming rights, marketing ads, and top placement on the sponsor board. Other levels include Eagle ($2,000), 19th Hole ($1,000), and Par ($500).
About Or VeShalom
The congregation, at 1681 North Druid Hills Road in Brookhaven, was founded in 1914 by 57 families, according to the Anu Museum's synagogue archive. More than 500 families are members, according to Kids Out and About Atlanta. Or VeShalom describes itself as inclusive and egalitarian, rooted in Sephardic tradition.
