Seven ice cream shops across Dunwoody and Brookhaven will be open Sunday, July 19, for National Ice Cream Day, and at least one local spot is sweetening the deal.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Ashford Crossing near Perimeter is adding free Sundae Fudge Sauce to any order on the holiday, according to a guide published by The Aha! Connection's Audra H. Anders on Thursday, July 16.

Dunwoody

Good Vibes Ice Cream Shop & Soda Pop, 5503 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody Village. The '70s-inspired shop opened in March 2025 as part of DASH Hospitality Group's Funwoody complex, replacing the former Bruster's location. House-made ice cream, craft sodas, gourmet brownies, and a working arcade. David Abes of DASH Hospitality said at the March 2025 opening that Good Vibes was meant to be "the space where they can get that mid-day treat or come for an end of night celebration." Cold Stone Creamery at Perimeter Center offers mix-in ice cream creations. Häagen-Dazs inside Perimeter Mall serves its premium pints and scoops. Check hours before visiting.

Brookhaven

Kilwins Atlanta-Town Brookhaven, 705 Town Blvd., Suite S550. Handmade chocolates, Mackinac Island-style fudge, original recipe ice cream, and fresh waffle cones. Sunday hours: 11 a.m.–9 p.m.

Southern Custard, 3575 Durden Drive NE, Suite 302, in Brookleigh Marketplace. Fresh frozen custard made daily with classic vanilla and chocolate served all week. Sunday hours: noon–10 p.m.

Chain deals on Sunday, July 19

Several national chains are running promotions:

  • Friendly's: Free cone or dish, no purchase required.
  • Dairy Queen: Free Dilly Bar with any $1 purchase through the DQ app (available through July 19).
  • Wendy's: $1 small classic Frosty for Rewards members via the app; the $1 deal extends to all customers Monday, July 20, through Sunday, Aug. 23.
  • Graeter's: 10% off online orders through July 19 with code ICECREAMDAY10.
  • Baskin-Robbins: $5 off orders of $20 or more for Rewards members, Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 25.

National Ice Cream Day has been observed on the third Sunday of July since President Ronald Reagan proclaimed it in 1984.

Coming up

The Atlanta Ice Cream & Wellness Festival returns to Piedmont Park on Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The free event marks its 15th year. Organizers expect more than 22,000 attendees, with ice cream vendors, live entertainment, a Kids Zone, wellness activities, and free health screenings.
