The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Service arrested a man Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Tyler Sieber on Interstate 285 near Buford Highway.

Raul Antonio Escobar-Paz, 45, faces charges of malice murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, hit-and-run and tampering with evidence, according to WSB-TV and CBS News Atlanta. He is being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.

The shooting happened the night of Thursday, July 23, on a stretch of interstate along Dunwoody's southern boundary near Brookhaven, according to CBS News Atlanta's original report, which put the time at around 10:28 p.m.

According to Tyler's father, Anton Sieber, the confrontation began when Escobar-Paz struck his vehicle. "He was noticeably agitated by that and then as we got on 285, he just immediately hit me in the back end of my car, sending me into a tailspin in the middle of 285," Anton Sieber told WSB-TV. Tyler, seeing that his father was unharmed, decided to pursue the suspect himself. "My son, he told me he was gonna follow him since he saw that I was okay and that's the last time I ever saw him," Anton Sieber said.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Tyler Sieber followed Escobar-Paz's vehicle and rear-ended it. Both drivers got out, and the two were yelling at each other when Escobar-Paz shot Sieber multiple times before driving away. Fox 5 Atlanta also reported that Escobar-Paz stole Sieber's cellphone, then broke it and scattered the pieces across the area in an apparent attempt to destroy photographic evidence.

Anton Sieber described the loss of his son in emotional terms. "It's like you work your whole life building your life, investing everything you have into your kids. And then they're gone. And how somebody could do something like that, I don't understand it," he told WSB-TV. "You know, he was my best friend. It was my son. He was that's gone and nothing that they do is going to fix that."
