Pontoon Brewing's third annual Oysterfest and Create Dunwoody's sixth annual Latino/Hispanic Cultural Celebration bring back-to-back community events to the Dunwoody area on Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13.
Oysterfest opens at noon Saturday at Pontoon Brewing, 8601 Dunwoody Place in Sandy Springs. Entry is free, according to the event's Eventbrite listing. The brewery is bringing in fresh raw and chargrilled oysters from the Georgia and South Carolina coasts.
Chef Jasmine Norton, owner and executive chef at Urban Oyster in Baltimore, is partnering with the brewery for the fest. Two chargrilled styles headline the oyster menu: Cheese Louise, made with mozzarella, Parmesan and lemon garlic, and Volcano, featuring chili garlic oil. Hapa Kitchen Food Truck will serve a lobster bar bun special alongside the shellfish.
Birdie Beard plays live from 1 to 4 p.m. DJ DrummaJai takes over from 5 to 8 p.m. Mahealani's Polynesian Entertainment brings fire dancing and hula performances starting at 4 p.m., and a local art market hosted by Sudnat Studios rounds out the lineup.
The event is family- and dog-friendly.
On Sunday, Sept. 13, Create Dunwoody hosts its sixth annual Latino/Hispanic Cultural Celebration at the Ashford Lane Lawn, 1220 Ashford Crossing in Dunwoody. The event runs from 4 to 7:30 p.m., according to the organization's Facebook page.
The celebration features live performances, a traditional attire fashion show, a passport challenge, cultural demonstrations, country exhibits and food, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Admission is free.
