Democratic U.S. Rep. Henry C. “Hank” Johnson Jr. is seeking reelection in Georgia’s 4th Congressional District against Republican James Raymond Duffie in the Nov. 3, 2026, election.

Johnson has represented the district since 2007. His official biography describes earlier work as a lawyer, magistrate judge and DeKalb County commissioner.

Court reform and consumer rights

Johnson’s stated priorities include Supreme Court ethics rules, disclosure of gifts and travel, and term limits for justices. His office identifies these as legislative proposals; introducing them does not mean they have become law.

He also supports the FAIR Act, which would restrict enforcement of forced-arbitration clauses in employment and consumer agreements. His biography says the measure has passed the House twice. House passage alone does not enact federal law.

For residents, these proposals concern accountability in the judiciary and the ability of workers and consumers to pursue disputes in court. Their eventual effect would depend on the text and enactment of legislation.

Office and implementation

Johnson’s current Judiciary Committee role includes serving as ranking member of the subcommittee covering courts, intellectual property, artificial intelligence and the internet.

A representative can sponsor bills, vote on spending and conduct oversight. He cannot change Supreme Court rules or federal arbitration law alone. The sources reviewed do not establish a complete implementation budget or quantified household savings for these proposals.

The Dunwoody-Brookhaven Ledger did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
