Dunwoody's first guided bike tour of public art installations has already sold out before riders even hit the trail.

The City of Dunwoody's Parks & Recreation Department announced its inaugural Ride & Seek: Dunwoody Public Art Tour for Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. The free, family-friendly ride reached capacity shortly after registration opened, and a waitlist is now available for residents who want a spot.

The ride is free.

The 2.6-mile route will loop through Brook Run Park, Pernoshal Park and Georgetown Park, stopping at five Art in the Park installations along the way. Riders will start and finish at the Great Lawn at Brook Run Park. No age restriction was listed in the city's announcement.

Andrea Perez, identified in the city's announcement as capital projects manager for the Parks and Recreation Department, is leading the tour. She said the ride grew from the collection of artwork across Dunwoody's green spaces.

"There are so many new and exciting art installations in our parks that we thought this would be a great way to showcase them," Perez said. "We'll stop at five pieces and talk about the inspiration behind them."

The city did not name the specific installations on the route. The announcement also did not say whether the city plans to hold the tour again, though calling it "inaugural" suggests future editions are possible.

The tour comes as the city adds to its public art collection. The Dunwoody Art Commission partnered with ConsultArt to install 12 sculptures at Wildcat Park, 5435 Roberts Drive. That exhibit is scheduled to run for up to two years, and each piece is made from durable, weather-resistant materials.

Jennifer Boettcher, the city's communications director, is the press contact for the event. Residents interested in joining the waitlist can sign up at bit.ly/DPRRideAndSeek.
