The Dunwoody Police Department is warning residents to watch out for strangers claiming to represent modeling agencies who try to lure young women and girls to hotels or private locations.
The department posted the safety alert on its Facebook page and on X on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The warning describes a scam in which people approach potential victims in public, appear charming and offer invitations to dinners at hotels or other private locations.
The department urged residents never to attend such meetings and not to share personal information, phone numbers, addresses or social media accounts. Anyone approached should take the person's information, say they will follow up independently and talk to a parent, guardian or trusted adult before responding.
The alert urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant ahead of the holiday season and to talk with children and loved ones about tactics used by scammers and traffickers.
Residents who encounter suspicious activity can contact the Dunwoody Police Department at (770) 724-7710.
