Dunwoody will put its seven-game winning streak on the line Friday, Oct. 30, when it faces Heritage of Conyers in a showdown between Region 4-AAAAAA’s two remaining unbeaten teams in league play.

Both teams enter with 6-0 region records. Kickoff is listed for 7 p.m. at North DeKalb Stadium, 3688 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road in Chamblee, according to the game’s ticket page. GPB lists a 7:30 p.m. start.

The Wildcats called the matchup the “Region Championship Game” in an Oct. 25 social media post celebrating their 45-24 victory at Decatur.

Dunwoody is 7-1 overall, with its only loss coming against Centennial, 23-21, in the Aug. 20 opener. Since then, coach Matthew Schmitz’s team has outscored opponents 292-107, winning by an average of about 26 points.

The Wildcats have scored 313 points and allowed 130 through eight games, according to their MaxPreps schedule.

Senior running back Bradley Stephens leads the offense with 1,587 rushing yards, averaging 198.4 per game. He has added 313 receiving yards for a combined 1,900 yards, according to MaxPreps statistics.

Senior quarterback Jack Quartararo has completed 70.4% of his passes and carries a 98.2 quarterback rating. Junior tight end Charles Survilas has 228 receiving yards and three touchdown catches in six appearances.

Heritage presents a defensive challenge. The Patriots have allowed just 66 points in seven completed games, including shutouts of Meadowcreek, 50-0, and Midtown, 33-0. Their closest region result was a 28-24 victory at Shiloh on Sept. 11. They beat Alcovy 24-6 on Oct. 23, according to their MaxPreps schedule.

Heritage’s overall record differs between sources. MaxPreps lists the Patriots at 7-0, while GHSA records count an Aug. 28 double forfeit against Rockdale County as a loss. That discrepancy does not affect Heritage’s unbeaten region record.

The Oct. 26 GHSA postseason rankings place Heritage at No. 14 in Class AAAAAA and Dunwoody at No. 19, although the records accompanying those rankings do not include either team’s Oct. 23 victory. Region winners receive guaranteed first-round placement regardless of their ranking, according to GHSA.

Dunwoody closes the regular season Nov. 6 at Meadowcreek. Heritage finishes the same night at home against Lakeside of DeKalb.
