The Dunwoody Wildcats football program released its 2026 JV roster on Friday, July 24, putting 57 names on the board under head coach Matt Schmitz.
The roster, posted on the program's official website dunwoodyhsfootball.com, spans grades 9 through 11 and covers every position group. The varsity season opener is less than a month away, with the Wildcats scheduled to play at Centennial in Roswell on Thursday, August 20, at 4:30 p.m., according to MaxPreps.
Depth across the board
Three quarterbacks headline the skill positions: Will Schmitz (No. 4, grade 9), Liam Whitehurst (No. 10, grade 10), and Jack Graviss (No. 17, grade 9). The wide receiver group is the roster's largest, with players like Maddox Dempsey (No. 2, grade 11), Mason Henrietty (No. 3, grade 9), and Aanand Kashyap (No. 11, grade 10) among a dozen pass-catchers.
Up front, at least 16 players are listed at offensive line, defensive line, or both. Upperclassmen Tommy Barker (No. 72, OL, grade 11), Jacob Hagar (No. 62, OL, grade 11), and Sebastian Page (No. 68, OL/DL, grade 11) anchor that group alongside sophomore Joseph Morrow (No. 77, OL/DL).
Mason Moore (No. 32, grade 10) is listed at wide receiver, defensive back, and punter, making him the roster's only three-position player. Two kickers round out the specialists: Jackson Aliffi (No. 15, grade 10) and Nathan Spitalnick (No. 51, grade 9).
Freshman wave
At least 24 of the 57 players are ninth-graders, spread across every position group. The freshmen range from quarterback Graviss to defensive back Liam "Jett" Lyda (No. 19) to lineman Cooper Waller (No. 67, OL/DL).
The large freshman contingent fits the program's broader growth. Schmitz said in a June appearance on the What's Up Dunwoody podcast that the Wildcats have nearly 100 players across all levels heading into 2026, a number he called the highest in years.
Season ahead
The varsity Wildcats' second game is Friday, August 28, at Riverwood at 7:30 p.m. The first home date is the Golden Spike rivalry matchup against Chamblee on Friday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m.
