The DeKalb County Board of Education and Board of Commissioners will meet jointly Monday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. in Stone Mountain.
The session takes place at the Administrative and Instructional Complex, 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd., DeKalb Schools announced on X. It is open for public viewing online and on television.
The two elected bodies have met jointly at least three times since 2024, according to a district newsletter published in May. The district said those sessions were aimed at aligning school and county priorities on issues affecting students, families and the broader DeKalb community. The Oct. 26 meeting would be at least the fourth such joint session.
A specific agenda for the meeting had not been published as of Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Separately, DeKalb voters head to the polls Nov. 3 to decide on the renewal of the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST VII). The penny sales tax funds the district's Capital Improvement Program, which pays for school construction, renovation and technology upgrades across the system. Early voting runs through Oct. 30.
The district is also conducting a student assignment review under Superintendent Dr. Norman C. Sauce III. That process examines school boundaries, building usage and potential openings or closings districtwide. Both topics could surface when school board members and county commissioners share a room, though neither body has said what the Oct. 26 agenda will include.
Residents can watch the meeting live on Xfinity Channel 24 in DeKalb County or stream it through DeKalb Schools TV. The district also posts meeting agendas and its public comment policy on the board's meeting calendar page.
