Candidates running in DeKalb County's Nov. 3 election can review final ballot proofs through 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.

The DeKalb County Board of Elections released a public notice Tuesday, Sept. 8, stating that final ballot proofs for the General and Special Election are available for inspection. Candidates or their authorized agents can visit the Voter Registration and Elections office at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur, GA 30032.

The window closes at 9 a.m. Thursday.

During the review period, candidates may request changes to their name, party affiliation or incumbency designation as printed on the ballot. The office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during regular business hours. The notice was issued under O.C.G.A. § 21-2-283.1, the state law requiring counties to make ballot proofs available before an election.

Keisha L. Smith, executive director of DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections, signed the notice. If the Election Superintendent determines a requested correction will ensure ballot accuracy, the change can be made, according to the notice.

The Nov. 3 ballot carries particular weight for Brookhaven residents. A special election will fill the unexpired District 2 City Council seat left by Jennifer Owens. For all DeKalb voters, the registration deadline to participate in the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 5. According to the county's early voting schedule, early voting runs weekdays from Oct. 13 through Oct. 30, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday hours are available Oct. 17 and Oct. 24, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday hours are available Oct. 18 and Oct. 25, noon to 6 p.m. Dunwoody Library, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, is listed as both an early voting location and a ballot drop box site.

Absentee ballot requests have been open since Aug. 17 and run through Oct. 23 at dekalbvotes.com or by calling 404-298-4020. Completed absentee ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3.
