Brookhaven District 2 Council Member Conor Sen will hold a town hall on the city's proposed $45.6 million budget Tuesday, Nov. 10. The meeting is the last community session before the council's adoption vote.
It runs from 6 to 7 p.m. at Brookhaven City Centre, 4001 Peachtree Road NE, according to a city announcement. Sen plans to present details on the proposed 2027 budget and hear other District 2 concerns.
"I want to hear directly from my friends and neighbors throughout District 2," Sen said in the announcement. "Whether your priorities involve maintaining strong City services, investing in transportation and infrastructure, supporting public safety, preserving our neighborhoods, or planning responsibly for Brookhaven's future, your perspective will help me cast an informed vote on the 2027 Budget."
The city council held its first public hearing on the budget at its Nov. 3 meeting. No action was taken, according to the council's meeting wrap-up. The second public hearing and budget adoption are scheduled for Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at City Centre.
The proposed General Fund budget totals $45.6 million, a 6.7 percent increase over the adopted 2026 budget, according to a city press release from Oct. 27. The proposal maintains the city's 3.85-mill operating millage rate with no increase for 2027. The rate had been 2.74 mills since 2015, according to Rough Draft Atlanta.
The $6.2 million capital budget includes $2 million for pavement management, sidewalk and ADA improvements, construction procurement for the Windsor/Ashford Dunwoody Road roundabout, and continued work on the Peachtree Creek Greenway and Connector Bridge.
Brookhaven officials also produced a first-ever 24-page budget booklet to help residents digest the roughly 350-page full proposal, Rough Draft Atlanta reported. Director of Communications Burke Brennan called the full budget "too voluminous for most people to digest."
The full proposed budget and the booklet are available at BrookhavenGA.gov/budget. Printed copies are free at city facilities, and residents can email questions to [email protected].
The council will consider adopting the 2027 budget at its Nov. 17 meeting.
