A Florida-based Brazilian steakhouse chain is heading to Dunwoody, and an award-winning Filipino restaurant has settled into a new space on Buford Highway, giving the area two fresh dining options alongside a Neapolitan pizza spot opening this week.

Adega Gaucha picks Twelve24 for first Georgia location

Adega Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse plans to open at the Twelve24 mixed-use development at 1224 Hammond Drive in Dunwoody by December 2026, according to Appen Media. The restaurant will be the brand's first Georgia location.

The chain currently operates locations in Orlando, Kissimmee and Deerfield Beach, Florida, specializing in Southern Brazilian churrasco-style dining. A press release from the company described the expansion as bringing "Southern Brazilian churrasco to Atlanta's Central Perimeter."

No exact opening date beyond December 2026 has been announced.

Kamayan ATL relocates within Asian Square

Kamayan ATL, the Filipino restaurant recognized by the Michelin Guide in 2023 and 2024 and a James Beard Award semifinalist in 2022, relocated in July to a new space next door to its original location at Asian Square on Buford Highway, according to Rough Draft Atlanta's July restaurant roundup published Monday, August 3.

The restaurant's website lists its current address as 5150 Buford Hwy NE, Suite A220, Doraville, GA 30340. Asian Square sits on the Buford Highway corridor near the Brookhaven/Doraville border. Atlanta Magazine named Kamayan ATL's chef Best Chef in 2022 and 2023.

Varuni Napoli opens Wednesday at High Street

Varuni Napoli, the Neapolitan pizza restaurant founded by Luca Varuni, opens its third Atlanta-area location at High Street in Dunwoody on Wednesday, August 5. The City of Dunwoody confirmed the date on X on Friday, July 24.

The 3,000-square-foot space will include a covered patio overlooking The Green, bar seating, a private chef's room and a takeout window, according to Rough Draft Atlanta. Varuni's other locations are in Morningside and at Krog Street Market.

"The energy, walkability and sense of community at High Street make it a natural fit for our next location," Varuni said in a July 24 announcement reported by Rough Draft Atlanta.

High Street, the GID-developed mixed-use project near the Dunwoody MARTA station, includes 598 apartments and 150,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space in its initial phase.

The restaurant openings come during an active stretch for the local dining scene. As we reported July 22, Beyond Juicery + Eatery opened in Brookhaven in late July, with a Dunwoody location at The Shops of Dunwoody expected later this year.

Residents looking to try Varuni Napoli can visit starting Wednesday, August 5. Adega Gaucha's December timeline has not been narrowed to a specific date.
