Brookhaven's first purpose-built city hall is open and hosting council meetings, public events and walk-in visitors at 4001 Peachtree Road NE, next to the Brookhaven-Oglethorpe University MARTA station.

The five-story, 58,250-square-foot City Centre cost approximately $78 million, according to Urbanize Atlanta, and is the first mass timber municipal building completed in Georgia. Joint venture developers McCarthy + Barnsley broke ground in October 2023, and the city opened the doors to the public on Aug. 9, 2025, with a "BetterTogether" community celebration and concert.

Roughly 60 percent of the building is open to the general public. Amenities include a three-story atrium under a skylight, a sport multipurpose room, a catering kitchen, an Explore Brookhaven visitor store, a rooftop garden and terraces, and outdoor greenspace for public events. The remaining space houses Brookhaven's administrative offices and city council chambers.

City offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The outdoor public spaces are accessible seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The building sits on a former 1.2-acre MARTA parking lot where Peachtree Road meets North Druid Hills Road. Brookhaven signed a $13.6 million, 50-year lease-purchase agreement with MARTA for the land. The Sizemore Group designed the building; McCarthy Building Companies and Barnsley Construction Group, a women-owned Atlanta firm, built it as their sixth joint project.

Rob Schulten of Barnsley Construction Group called the project "a new standard for municipal design in Georgia" in a September 2025 announcement reported by Urbanize Atlanta.

The mass timber structure features exposed wood throughout the upper levels, with a concrete below-grade parking garage holding 70 spaces. The project is designed to achieve WELL Gold and LEED Gold certification.

One early hiccup: the building's distinctive white dome originally featured colored triangular glass panels, but residents complained they resembled Magna-Tiles or a circus tent. Mayor John Park said in June 2025 that the tiles were not the "muted tones of the city's signature colors" as intended. The dome remains open-air.

Since the city was incorporated in 2012 as the 11th city in DeKalb County, Brookhaven's nearly 60,000 residents had no purpose-built civic home. City Council has been meeting at City Centre since at least November 2025, with regular business meetings at 6:30 p.m.

The city envisions the site as a nucleus for the area, with bike lanes, multi-use trails and new sidewalks connecting to the Peachtree Creek Greenway. A free "Paint the Dome" community event on July 18, 2026, hosted by Explore Brookhaven, invited residents to create their own versions of the building's landmark dome, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

The next scheduled public meeting at City Centre is a District 4 community meeting on the proposed Southern Connector Bridge, set for Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m. on the third floor. Residents can reach the city at 404-637-0500.
